Words and Variables

I wrote a short article for math-blog.com on a few examples of math in literature. The idea is similar to the thesis I wrote for English Honors back at USF.

Anyway, here’s the permalink. It’s fun getting “published.”

Interesting article. It is a shame that math references are lost on most of us mere mortals.

“Mere mortals” … Do you say this because you missed some of the math references or was the tone of the article snooty?

No, it was not snooty. Rather, most of us, myself included, breeze right over math references, especially when they are subtle. My understanding of math is at a far more basic level; hence, I am one of those “mere mortals”. As a result, you have a far more complete understanding of Alice in Wonderland than I do.
